Having been on the Fusion Programme I have introduced regular ‘My Time’ sessions, have involved my daughter in decision making and my husband has become more involved in time with the children.

Fusion has made me think about how much I do for my 12year old and how for his sake I need to give him responsibilities of his own.

A short story…. My time at Fusion: When I first agreed to go to a Fusion meeting, I was not convinced that anything could make our family life easier. We had a 6 yr old that wouldn’t sleep before 10.30 and a 3 yr old with a behaviour problem. They had parents who were exhausted and shouted all the time. When I started going to Fusion, each week I came away with new ideas to try, not all worked but we felt better just trying them. We learnt how to talk as a family and realise that our children had voices and opinions too. We also started coping better when the kids played up, we talked every Sunday after dinner, making plans and listening to each other. My 6yr old works with a star and reward chart and my 3yr old has started time out and rewards for using his potty.

If it wasn’t for Fusion our family would still be pulling apart at the seams. They taught us how to be calm and stay in focus, to deal with things a nicer way where everyone is happy. As for me, well I feel calmer and can cope in situations which would normally reduce me to tears. Now the course is finished I use my handbook like it’s my bible and what’s great too is I can go back and re do Fusion. I feel confident knowing I am not a bad parent, I just don’t have all the answers to all the questions and if anyone is thinking about doing the course I would recommend it. Its life changing stuff!
